A townhouse in the beautiful Prior Park setting in Bath, the client for Mulberry Way wanted to create a contemporary ground floor extension to their end of terrace property to provide additional everyday living space.
The extension lengthens the existing Kitchen to provide a larger space whilst also giving the client a new space to relax and overlook the rear garden from. Particular attention was given to the material choice of the extension, offering a contrast whilst taking precedent from the existing to ensure the proposed sat comfortably within its context. These included natural stonework to match the existing garden walls, contemporary buff brickwork to match the existing buildings, black aluminium windows and dark grey fibre cement board as the main cladding material to act as a stark alternative to the brickwork.
The project features a large eaves glazed roof window which wraps up the end of the extension and onto the roof to maximise natural light into the existing building and a parquet wooden floor running from existing into new to exaggerate and elongate the new spaces.
The result is a seamless contemporary harmony between old and new, providing the client with an impressive high-spec extension to maximise the space between the inside and the outside.
